The Village owns 103 acres of floodplain along the Rouge River which sits on the Northeast corner of the Village limits. The Friend of Sparta Trails has helped to create recreation trails throughout the Village owned property in the area.

This trail gives visitors access to the Rogue River including new recreation opportunities such as scenic overlooks, bird watching, wildlife watching, and water activities on unimproved and non-paved trailways.
